My First Golf Trophy!

OK so it’s not the kind of trophy anyone aspires to win!  Laura Connolly from our sales team organized the first annual Free-FM Mini-Golf tournament out at Tin Cup on Windermere at Adelaide.  We met on Friday afternoon, split into foursomes and took on the 18-hole courses.  There are two complete with windmills, sand traps and water hazards.

We had loads of fun.  In our foursome it soon became clear that if we had any hope, it would be with me and our receptionist Jessica’s boyfriend Chris.  I must say, Jessica is very creative.  She invented the “continuation shot” which is when you knock your ball again if you didn’t hit it hard enough the first time!  Our fourth player, Susan from accounting, was – shall we say – inexperienced!  We had some big laughs and lots of fun.  At the end we were awarded the “Most Pathetic Golfer” trophy for having the highest combined score.  If you look at Jessica’s hand (she’s in the fuschia top) you can see a tiny, wee black thing – that’s our trophy!

A group of my coworkers. Jessica the receptionist is holding a small black rectangle which is our trophy! I am pointing to it as if it's a big deal.

I gave our acceptance speech and said Chris and I were leading a breakaway faction from our foursome and we’d be auditioning new players!  Our trophy will now sit at the reception desk at Free-FM where onlookers might mistake it for an eraser or a small piece of very moldy cheese.  We’ll get ’em next year.
