Sharonstock

We are away again this weekend to a performance so exclusive, they don’t even sell tickets.  You have to know someone in the band.

This group’s live gigs are so rare that if you miss this one, you might not ever get to see them again.  In fact, they’re so exclusive you probably haven’t even heard of them!

The Dust Monkeys are my brother-in-law Rob’s band and they’re performing in his backyard again for an annual family BBQ that has come to be known as Sharonstock.  It’s in Sharon, Ontario, you see.  All year the band rehearses in a dusty, forgotten room at the Toyota plant – thus the name.   Various other talented brothers take turns playing instruments and singing along with the regular members.   They’re not perfect but they are loud! So loud that the cops visited the get-together last year and told us to tone it down. It was a proud moment indeed.

There is no mosh pit.   They don’t have any memorabilia and their groupies are made up of members of their own family.   They haven’t made a record and you can get an autograph from any one of them at virtually any time.  Perhaps even mid-performance.  Enjoy your weekend while I enjoy the classic rock sounds of the Dust Monkeys’ second ever live gig!
