Increasing Traffic

When you’re about to self-publish, as I am, you’re also about to self-promote, self-represent and self-distribute your work. So I’ve been reading up on ways to improve the chances of my little book getting seen – keep in mind this is something I already know a thing or two about.  So I’m only going after tips from the masters.

I’ve started to follow a few successful authors on Twitter.  One, Jonathan Gunson, puts out tidbits and articles he finds about marketing a book etc.  He shares loads of genuinely helpful ideas but just for a lark he tweeted this gem about increasing interest in one’s blog. It’s funny because it’s true!

A dog sits at a computer lamenting the lack of comments on his blog. His pal, a bunny, suggests putting a spelling error in so the dog uses the wrong "there" in a sentence. Later he happily says, "Wow - I have 300 angry comments on my blog!" The bunny replies, "You probably don't want to go outside. There's an angry mob with perfectly written protest signs!"
