Miracle Method Part I

This is the story of our bathroom makeover. We considered everything from ripping out the countertop, tub and surround to Bath Fitter to what-have-you in order to deal with the ugly and worn-out state of the home’s original, main-floor bathroom. The cultured marble counter was still in good shape but it was wearing away around the sink stopper and its colour matched the original fixtures: 1960’s almond.

The tub surround was alright but the tub itself was starting to wear away to the point where it had to be cleaned every day.  There were small spots where the enamel had worn right off. It was coming to its end.

A new shower head installed a couple of years ago certainly helped.  The room has been painted and Derek put in new flooring and a white toilet a couple of years ago, too.  It wasn’t horrifying by any means but it was due for a fix.

A few weeks ago I was flipping through the weekly flyers when a glossy page caught my eye.  It featured before and after photos of kitchens and bathrooms redone by a company called Miracle Method.  When I see “miracle” or “magic” in a company name my bullshit-meter hits 11.  But I read further, did some research on the Internet and decided to give them a call. They’ve been around in the US for some time and are just making their way into Canada. The franchise owner, Rick, came out to do the estimate himself.  He is a super nice guy with no hard sell, no rehearsed patter.  Just a decent dude. Miracle Method is a two-step, spray-on process that’s warrantied and guaranteed and all of that.  After seeing the cost – about 1/3 of those put-a-new-one-over-the-old-one companies, we decided to go for it.

Tomorrow I’ll show you what we came home to on day one and give you the lowdown on what it’s like to live in a house that’s being Miracled!
