How to Spot a Dinosaur

Dinosaurs – defined in this case as people who haven’t evolved with the times – make assumptions.  They assume everybody celebrates Christmas and don’t consider that they might be Jewish or another faith.  They assume everybody is straight.  They never think about whether a white person might be married to a black person or if someone might have adopted the children whose hands they’re holding.

Wolf Blitzer is one such dinosaur. Granted, long-term live ad-libbing isn’t easy but Blitzer has never made it look or sound easy, in his nasal monotone.  But he really puts his foot in it by assuming an Oklahoma tornado survivor is something she isn’t. She gets points for grace, humour and for accepting that not everyone thinks like her, either. Wolfie, you’ve really got to open your eyes to the world. It’s changed and we no longer stone people, at least in this part of the world, for having an alternate viewpoint.
