The Forest for the Trees

Some days I really think I ought to stop thinking of myself as bright!

One of the things that ebook authors know is that if a reader enjoys one of your books, they’ll usually look for your other work right away. If you don’t have other work, they move on. In addition to The Naked Truth that came out late last year, I also have 2003’s Celebrity Tantrums but I can’t find a way to list the download on my own page or under my name. I contacted them last year about doing so and they said no.  I also told them I’d be interested in updating the book if they wished.  They do not wish.

But before I was deleted from the roster of said publisher along with 39 other authors due to the company’s sale, I had written a complete manuscript. I’ve spoken of this manuscript often. I’ve reminisced about how it was fully edited and ready to go when it was eliminated from the publishing schedule.  So why did it take me until now to realize that with some updating and freshening, it could be my next book?  Ergo my comment about not being all that bright.

This book is a collection of biographies of famous women who started from virtually nothing and built incredible careers. I put hundreds of hours of time into it. It’s not a guide to rocket science.  It’s meant to be informative and encouraging for entrepreneurs and just plain interesting reading. You could buy 15 biographies or read this condensed, friendly version and get them all at once.  It was originally titled Starting From Scratch. Then the publisher decided to call it Moving Up. I don’t like either title very much but I like the first one better than the second.  However, if you have a clever idea for a title, I’d love for you to share it and I’d even give you credit in the book. If the thought of reading about the climb to success by people like Celine Dion, Barbara Walters, Faith Hill and Cher brings to mind a phrase or word that hasn’t already been overused in the publishing game, I’m all ears. Until then, I’m all fingers as I pick up where the stories left off and bring them up to date.

  1. Oh, you’re bright, its just some days someone forgets to turn on the switch. Happens to all of us.

    1. Oh I really like that. REALLY!!! And I’m not in the least bit surprised it would be so clever, coming from you.
