Until I went through my receipts to reconcile them with my bank statement, yes I do that, I didn’t realize I had been mistaken for someone older at Shoppers Drug Mart.
The cashier was in her thirties. She didn’t even ask if I qualified, which I’m sure is a tough question anyway. I’m choosing to believe that because it was their monthly senior’s day, which I didn’t know at the time, she just assumed I was there with the rest of the blue hairs to take advantage of 20% off.
Shoppers’ definition of senior starts at 55 so it’s not as if she mistook me for 65! But still, it stung just a little and amused quite a lot. I have a ways to go before I qualify but I won’t be going back to insist on paying the difference!
Maybe next time you have lunch and you order a beverage, someone will ask you for ID. 😉
