This Boot is Made for…Storing Until the Next Injury!

The aircast came off this week and I took my first tentative steps with a free foot. It’s not ready for the treadmill yet and it won’t go into a high heel but it’s a lot better than before the boot.

And the boot has been fun. One day last week I turned song requests into instant Christmas songs by playing along with jingle bells. Then the bells went on the boot.

In order to drum up sympathy donations to the Salvation Army kettle I was tending, I decorated the boot again, this time with gold garland and balls.

And Blair blinged me up for a little photo op to show how hard I work in the newsroom.

collage of three photos. A close-up on the boot with bells and a string of clear lights. One of me with my lit up boot on my desk, reading intensely. In the next I'm looking at the camera as if I'm being interrupted.

The moral of the story? You may have to spend some time clomping around in an unattractive aircast, so you may as well have fun with it!

Sadly, I think there will probably be another occasion when this thing comes in handy. Into a closet it goes. Thanks, aircast. It’s nice to walk again.
