Well, That’s a First!

three colourful easter eggs laid out on pink paper with faces and whiskers drawn on them, and bunny ears in white on the paper

Easter weekend came and went in a flurry of crumpled chocolate-egg foil, spinning wheels and keystrokes.

Between two enjoyable family dinners, I completed two articles and a related project for Walmart, and voiced chunks of the massive audiobook Derek and I are working on. I was proud of myself for getting it all done, knowing I’ll have a short week because it’s treatment-time for my cancer-fighting family member whom I accompany to appointments.

I noted, of course, the devastating terrorist attacks in Sri Lanka and had a selfish moment of gratitude that I wouldn’t have to talk about them endlessly, now that I’m no longer on radio. This morning I woke up to several emails asking, where’s today’s blog post? Gulp.

It totally slipped my mind! In more than a decade of writing this blog and several years before that on the Davisville Productions site when I wrote 7 days a week – I don’t think I forgot to post. Then again, I forgot to post, so would I remember forgetting before?!

Now I’m forgetful AND confused!

In addition to chocolate eggs, Mom’s and sister-in-law’s good cooking and piles of leftovers, this quote from Reese Witherspoon in Allure resonated with me on the weekend. It’s totally unrelated to my forgetful moment, or Easter, or anything else. And if you’re fighting the aging process tooth and nail, good for you – no judgment. I still put night cream under my eyes as I attempt to grow my dyed hair out to its natural shade. Cher is 72 and she just launched a concert tour, looking amazing. To each their own.

“I have a point of view because I’ve been on this planet for 43 years, and I didn’t feel that same way when I was 25. I didn’t have the same things to say. I’m 43 and I’ve had a whole bunch of experiences, and I can speak with a thoughtfulness about the changes I’d like to see in the world, and…I just feel like I earned that gray hair and my fine lines. I like ’em. I so prefer 43 to 25.”

  1. Wow – that’s a sign you truly are reWired – if it could slip your mind for a first time. I’m kinda proud of you, to be honest! PLUS you have a lot on your plate. And anyone who loves you (and that’s a lot of folks) understands. I know we do. xox
