Betty White was once asked why she always kept so busy. Her reply:

“You can’t hit a moving target.”

I’ve been in front of a microphone for a long time but that fact alone tells you little about my ability. Better evidence is being chosen to voice projects for:

  • Nivea
  • BMO
  • RBC
  • Dirt Devil
  • PwC
  • Walmart
  • Stella Artois
  • Dairy Queen
  • Honda
  • Ford
  • and many other major brands.

Just as important are the jobs you may never hear! eLearning for a company’s staff.  Presentations delivered to prospective partners and shareholders. And searchable content accessed via Google Home or Amazon Echo through my work for Witlingo, an official voice-first content provider to these and other devices.

No project is too big or too small. And every one gets the same attention to detail and promise that the job isn’t over until my client is happy.

When I’m not recording or editing, I’m writing my blog or working on Gracefully and Frankly, the popular podcast I cohost with Erin Davis.

FAQ

Where do I start when hiring a voiceover artist?

Assuming you have a script and know how you plan to use the voiceover, think about the characteristics of a voice that you’d like to represent your brand. Is your project deadly serious or a little bit funny? Do you want the gravitas of Oprah? Or the lighter sound of Kristen Bell? Can you share the link to a video that has the feel you’re after? All of these things will help, as will descriptors such as energetic, enthusiastic, calm, etc.

I am happy to record a polished, custom audition with no obligation. It’s like taking your voiceover for a test drive.

How much will my voiceover cost?

Generally, voiceover projects are priced by the word count. Microsoft Word, or WordCounter.net, will give you that number. Each minute of copy uses about 150 words, give or take. If your script is 3,000 words, expect about 20 minutes of finished audio.

Another factor is how the audio will be used. There’s a difference between a welcome video on a local website, and a commercial that will run for years on major platforms, even if the word count is similar. And then there’s file-splitting. Separating an audio file into many smaller files is time-consuming and costs a little more.

The best way to find out how much it will cost is to ask. Voiceover professionals like me who are working full time record many projects of different lengths and purposes every week. It’s often more affordable than you think!

How long will it take to deliver my voiceover?

Usually within 24 hours, with some exceptions.

Sometimes, I can finish a project in as little as an hour or two. It depends on two factors:

*my workload

*the size of the project

A 3,000 word project that is all on one file is much faster to complete than a 3,000 word project that needs to be split into 50 files.

What happens if there’s a mistake in my voiceover?

I aim for perfection, but if I make a mistake I will fix it – end of story.

If you have made a mistake and require a minor copy change, I will do that for you as well.

If you decide your script needs a rewrite, we can discuss what’s involved and find the best way forward. It’s in everyone’s best interest to use a final version of a script when you come to me!

How do I know I’ll get what I want and what you promise?

Because this is my livelihood and my passion. Google my name and you’ll find I’m all over the place! I can even provide you with references. It’s in my best interests for you to come away from our transaction as happy as possible.
