Fluevog = Happy

Some time ago I mentioned my desire to own a pair of Fluevogs. It’s not like they’re totally out of reach price-wise but I wanted to wait until I got a deal. There are very few Fluevog stores in Canada so I’d have to make an online order.

Fluevogs, the brainchild of designer John Fluevog, are defined by their unique heels. Instead of a straight-to-the-floor construction they tend to taper and then widen again at the bottom. They’re gorgeous. Some of them are really wild – imagine a copper-plated-looking pair of pumps – so I was waiting for a more conservative pair to go on sale. Finally, it happened over the holidays.  A lovely pair of black pumps with a loafer-looking toe was reduced in price because they only had one left in my size. I placed my order faster than you could say bazinga! They arrived this week.

Fluevog has attracted a loyal following because of its uniqueness, the long-lasting quality of the footwear and its attitude.  This is a sample from their email update on my order: “We welcomed the Fleet which always consists of three solar-powered FluevogVans – one for security, one for your package, and one for refreshments and supplies. We briefly chatted about what great taste you have and how good looking you are, but then they were off and on their way to make the final delivery.”  Even the box is full of moxy, featuring sayings like “know you’re weird” and “avoid boredom”. I won’t be able to recycle it. It’s a keeper!

Oh and the shoes? They’re super comfy loafer-pumps, although I only danced in the kitchen so far. I can’t wait to wear them for real.
