A Tale of Two Women

Diandra Douglas and Michael Douglas divorced ten years ago after he went through a Tiger-Woods-lite period of drug and sex addiction.  They had been married more than two decades and had wed after dating just six weeks.

Now Diandra has dragged Michael to court claiming that she is owed profits from the new Wall Street movie because it’s a sequel to the original Wall Street whose proceeds she was entitled to when they divorced.  Are you with me?

Ten years after they made their separation final, and he paid her $45 million and gave her several homes she wants more from a NEW movie.  This woman is greedy beyond belief.  It’s kind of ironic that the full title of the new movie is Money Never Sleeps.

Then there’s Elin Nordegren, Tiger Woods’ ex-wife who was home birthing and taking care of their little kids while he was bed-hopping and whining about how boring she is.  In her first interview since the scandal broke, she says she’s embarrassed that she never suspected that he was leading a double life.  Why should she be embarrassed?  Part of the commitment of marriage is to believe that your spouse is acting honourably and to trust them.  And that’s what she did.  Unfortunately her trust was poorly placed.

Elin is also walking away with tens of millions of dollars and pursuing a quiet life to raise their kids out of the public eye.  She also hasn’t forgiven Tiger but I can guarantee you that she will not be back in a decade for more money.

Media types seem to be making a big deal that Diandra’s lawsuit is going ahead despite Michael’s recent diagnosis of throat cancer.  That has nothing to do with it.  Even if he was perfectly healthy this attack on his bank account would be gross and disgusting.  She already has more money than could be spent in several lifetimes.  At some point you’ve got to just let it go.
