No-Sew Throw Pillow

Knowing I’m a sponge for how-tos and home decor stuff, my brother sent me a link to some easy home projects on the long weekend.

Some I’d seen before. Some I hadn’t. And I decided to give one a try.  It’s a sew-free way to cover a throw pillow.

I fall in love with things like fabrics.  I bought some cotton material on Ebay probably 7 or 8 years ago and used to cover the cushions on the large dining set I had at the time. It’s a little bit retro and it includes my favourite colour combination: brown and sky blue.  I have only one piece of it left and I thought it was useless. Then along came the pillow idea and behold, it was time to try it out.

You lay out the fabric, place the pillow in the middle and fold over the top and bottom to meet in the middle. Then you bring together both ends, folded to a point, like you would giftwrap a present. Tie the ends together, tuck in the excess and you end up with this.

pillow with a knot in front like a large bow tie, in brown, tan, sky blue and white fabric with circles inside squares

I doubt it will hold up to enthusiastic snuggling but it looks nice!  I think I’ll put a stitch or two with white thread in the middle of the bow to help it stay tied. And it gives me the chance to see my favourite swatch of fabric every day once again.
