Say It Isn’t So Dave: Yuuuuuuuuup!

Storage Wars is rigged? Great finds are planted inside the storage lockers for certain cast members to pretend to find?  So says Dave Hester, the master of the yuuuup, who is suing the company behind the hit show because he says he was fired after complaining about the deception.

TMZ got the story first.  Hester, who has built an entire company around his newfound fame from the show, wants $750,000 for wrongful termination. He says producers once planted a BMW under a pile of trash.  He alleges that newspapers announcing the death of Elvis were planted for another show. He’s suing A & E and the auction company behind the show. You can read the document here.

First, I didn’t even know Dave was fired.  Second, this is terrible! The fun of the show is the discovery the viewer makes along with the cast and crew. It’s supposed to be non-fiction.  It’s A & E’s highest rated reality show.  Somehow because it doesn’t involve a bunch of kids or, frankly, terribly good-looking people it just seemed more legitimate. But that’s another allegation Hester is making.  He says some of the show’s participants were given cosmetic surgery to make them more appealing.  Upon reading this I thought, who?  Except for Brandi and Barry they’re all pretty below average looking!

This could spell the end of the show. It could become a huge scandal. Or it could blow over faster than you can say “Yuuuuup!”  Stay tuned.
