Shopping Locally

It’s such a big thing now and it used to be the norm: buy from your neighbours.

London now has its own weekend market in the west end, our end of the city. Ogilvies Market opened a couple of weekends ago and we checked it out on Saturday.  The main reason we stopped in was because our niece Nicky and a partner have started a new all-natural skin-care line called Lotus Luv.  They sell their wares on Etsy.com and now at the market. I’m already devoted to their moisturizers.

There’s produce, meat, crafty things and food products at the market, all locally made.  Of all the things I somehow walked past without buying, such as hand-made chocolates and fresh kettle corn, somehow this little guy caught my eye. He’s our own “angry bird”.

He makes me smile.

If you’re in the London area, Ogilvies Market is on Hyde Park Road just north of Crossings. It’s only open on weekends.  It was fairly busy and I imagine it will only grow as west-enders realize they don’t have to go all the way downtown to get their fresh market stuff.
