What does it take to get people to follow you with complete devotion? Because I don’t understand it.
I don’t care who it is. Conservative, Liberal, Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, Humanist. There is no way I could ever become so dedicated to a person’s ideology. To believe they have all the answers forever, and that anything they do is perfect and right. There’s no one on earth who would fill that role for me.
We Know How They Find Each Other. Thanks Facebook!
On the weekend, the self-proclaimed Queen of Canada’s compound in Saskatchewan was raided. She leads a cult of more than a dozen like-minded folks who were living in an abandoned school. Police were allowed to evict them because the building is a health hazard. Besides the Queen, one of the guys is known as the “second Prime Minister” of Canada.
This is different than Michael Jackson calling himself the King of Pop. He had record sales to back it up. The fifty-year-old woman “queen” is just an ordinary loon whose cult was inspired by conspiracy cesspool Q-Anon. The Canadian group is part of the “sovereign citizen” movement. Members believe they don’t have to pay taxes, follow laws, courts, etc.
A sovereign citizen is the reason we didn’t buy a beautiful cottage near Bayfield, ON. You’ll know one of these folks if you meet them because they launch into a lecture with no prompting. This guy started telling us how to become one of them. We did not ask, believe me. He was the manager of the property and we knew we’d have to deal with him. The real estate agent tried to convince us we’d never see him. Really? The guy on an ATV who noticed us and immediately pulled up and started into his spiel?
Back to Our Fake Monarch
The false queen claims she was appointed by the King of the US. (Some dude you’ve never heard of because he’s fake too.) She has also claimed to be an ET, and convinced followers to stop making mortgage and utility payments. Of course, they’ve ended up in foreclosure, small claims court, etc. She even made up her own currency which her followers tried to use as real money. She also claims she has backing from some well-known US conspiracy theorists but they all say, nope. She’s on her own.
And since she was living in an abandoned school with no working plumbing or electricity, draw your own conclusions about how smart and successful she is.
I just want to know how she convinces others she’s got the right ideas about life. The closest I come to following someone is Marcus Aurelius, the father of Stoicism. But even then, I pick and choose what works for me. It’s isn’t about the man, it’s about his ideas. There’s no way I’d follow him into an abandoned building with no sanitation or warmth.
How do I get a dozen or more people to do my bidding? “Hey, you, Prince of Port Stanley, vacuum the upstairs carpet! And when you’ve finished that, wash my car.” The garden needs cleaning up and that pile of clothing won’t launder itself! I guess I don’t have a firm ideology like the sovereign citizens do. It’s just as well. I do cherish my alone time. If people are hanging on your every word, it’s hard to get any reading done.

Lisa,
What is going on with some people? Just read about the Men’s Nationalist group. They held a rally in the Niagara region.
Scary people. They feel deprived. If only they realized how lucky we are to live in Canada. I don’t get it.
I agree, Nancy. Most of the attendees wore masks because they know what they’re doing is subversive and on the fringe. They act like they’re the only “real men” who are preparing for a war. It’s simply poorly disguised racism. They may as well wear pointy white hats. Disgusting.
Is she really all that much different than Trump and his belief that he has all the answers?
She’s like a swamp thing compared to Trump. He has always had sycophants and followers but that’s mostly because of his wealth. She has nothing more than ideology. It takes someone pretty persuasive to convince a dozen others to live in a condemned building with no toilets!
You are Queen . . . of our hearts, Lisa!
