Late Night Laughs

When Jimmy Fallon was part of the Saturday Night Live cast, I never imagined he would have a stellar performing career. He ruined several skits by cracking up and seemed to be just okay most of the time, with his brightest spots coming via impressions.  He starred in a couple of entirely forgettable movies and didn’t seem to be going anywhere fast. Shows you what I know!

A couple of weeks ago when I was off for a day, nursing my ailing neck, I watched every YouTube video I could find of Fallon’s first few days as host of The Tonight Show, including rehearsals. He and his writing and production staff are hilarious and it’s no wonder he’s thriving in the cut-throat world of TV. He’s a genuinely nice, funny guy. The show’s content is truly original. While the rest of the world mused about where they were when the Beatles appeared on Ed Sullivan for the first time, Fallon and his crew took a different approach. And it’s a new classic.

  1. I didn’t love him on SNL either, but I became a fan of his during his Late Night show. He & Justin Timberlake were hilarious together, and he played well with others. I love his “Switched Accents” skit with Paul McCartney. 😉
