…Sometimes, as a typical human, I ruminate about getting older, while also trying not to do the math. You know – the math on life expectancy and that sort of thing. Getting older is the goal, so mostly I’m damn grateful to be doing it.
…One day last week, after wearing ourselves out doing moving stuff, Derek and I flopped in front of the TV for some Netflix. I picked a documentary on Norman Lear, the creative genius behind the biggest TV hits of the 70’s; All in the Family, Good Times, The Jeffersons, etc. The doc is called Just Another Version of You.
…The memory isn’t as sharp as it used to be. The hair is peppered with grey. Some body parts make popping noises when you bend or stretch. But other than that, getting older is something that happens without you. You only really notice it when it’s mentioned by someone else.
…Hello, my little fur lickers, and Happy New Year to one and all. To loving human beans, fellow fab felines, and, even filthy dogs! I’m feeling full of love and perhaps even a little bit high on catnip. Santa was generous with it, as usual.

I’m not anti-plastic surgery. I’m not against anything that’s someone’s personal choice, that doesn’t hurt anyone else, really. But I think it’s time we stopped making a big hairy deal about how well someone is aging when they’re not aging naturally. And that’s this week’s randt. …
Full disclosure: I dye my hair. Â But if hair colouring was outlawed tomorrow I wouldn’t lose any sleep over it. I think about letting it go natural all the time.
