Update from Sick Bay

Not me, I’m doing alright, after a couple of days of rest and now just enduring a plain old head cold.  No, it’s my laptop’s health that’s causing the most concern.

It is still with the geeks. In fact, they are some of the best geeks in the city and the reality that they are currently stumped is a bit worrisome.  As I suspected after fidding around with the usual areas, the laptop has a major problem.  They confirmed my suspicions that it wasn’t a simple fix and called me later in the day to say they were still puzzled.  If you know geeks, this is not a good sign.   They called the next day to get my permission to remove the anti-virus software.  That’s the last I’ve heard.

Once you get to know computers a bit you can pretty much tell whether you’re dealing with something a) you can fix yourself,  b)  you could fix if only you could find the right area of the computer or c)  something that’s way over your head.  But when you take it to a good geek you assume that it won’t be over the geek’s head.  Now I’m getting rather antsy.  I last took a back-up of my data a couple of weeks ago so I’m not worried about losing information.  But I am worried about possibly having to buy another laptop.  This possibility displeases me!  There are about a hundred million of them on the market and choosing technology makes my head want to explode.  I loathe it.  But that’s the worst case scenario.  For now I maintain my faith in geeks and hope for a solution.  Wish me luck.

  1. Once the geeks have had their way with your laptop and if there unable to find the problem, the next step is to bring it to a nerd! I love a good challenge and unfortunately, I’ve likely been doing it since before your geeks were born, so send me a note and I’ll see what I can do.

    1. Ah yes, nerds! 🙂
I have apparently misunderstood the geeks. They have not actually tried to work on my laptop yet. The one guy took a preliminary check just to see if it was an easy fix (it isn’t) and then it went back into the queue. But thanks for the plan b. We’ll see how the geeks fare!
